It goes without saying that we’re pretty passionate about oral health, but between May 15 and June 15 we’re particularly on the ball. We’re joining thousands of other dentists, healthcare practitioners and individuals to celebrate National Smile Month; the UK’s largest and longest-running campaign to promote good oral health.
Organisers (The Oral Health Foundation) aim to raise awareness of the important issues in oral health, to educate and inspire people to take charge of their own oral hygiene, and to get us all following the three simple steps to success:
- Brush your teeth once in the morning and once before bed, with fluoride toothpaste
- Limit your sugar foods and drinks throughout your day
- Visit your dentist regularly, as often as they recommend
Here at Arnica, we’re playing our part with ‘The Smiley’ – National Smile Month’s hand held smile graphic with lots of photos which we’ll share here and on social media.
And for the younger smilers out there, there’s also a National Smile Month competition running in the practice where we ask children the following question:
“Why is it important to brush your teeth?”
The best answers will win free Amazon vouchers: 1st gets £30, 2nd gets £20 and 3rd gets £10.
What can I do to help?
National Smile Month will be taking place all around the country; in other dental practices, in schools, businesses and workplaces. Besides taking your own Smiley Selfie, you can also get involved in:
- The Big Dental Placemap Challenge
- Nominate A Smile
- Team Building With A Smile
- #NSM On Twitter
- Smile In Pink Day
National Smile Month has been around since 1977, and since then it was expanded all over the globe. Responsible brushers now take part in the America, Ireland and the United Arab Emirates. More than 60 million people have taken part in the last 40 years, raising thousands of pounds for the Oral Health Foundation and helping us pave the way to a brighter, more smiley future.
How will you do your part?
